4th Crew Welfare Virtual Awards Ceremony due on June the 24th!

SAFETY4SEA is delighted to announce the Crew Welfare Awards for the fourth consecutive year within the scope of fostering Crew Wellbeing & Sustainable Shipping. The process to be employed is a combination of open nomination and vote while the presentation shall take place at a dedicated special event to be held on June the 24th , during the 5th Crew Welfare Week.

The award categories are:

Crew Welfare Tanker Operator Award
To be awarded to a ship operator of oil or chemical tankers, or gas carriers that demonstrated Initiative, Best Practices and Excellence and in any aspect of crew welfare

The shortlisted nominees are:

  • Anglo-Eastern Ship Management, for fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace
  • Ardmore Shipping, for its impactful Bursary Cadet Program
  • Columbia Group, for its Columbia Crew Welfare Program
  • Dorian LPG, for promoting equal opportunities in recruitment and career development
  • Pertamina International Shipping, for its investment in mental health training and support


Crew Welfare Dry Bulk Operator Award
To be awarded to a ship operator of bulk carriers, or general dry cargo vessels that demonstrated Initiative, Best Practices and Excellence in any aspect of crew welfare

The shortlisted nominees are:

  • Anglo American, for its commitment to crew welfare
  • Bernhard Schulte Ship Management, for its investment in crew training
  • Neptune Dry Management, for its investment in crew welfare
  • OLDENDORFF CARRIERS GmbH & Co. KG., for supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Pacific Basin Shipping Limited, for its investment in crew welfare


Crew Welfare Crew Manager Award
To be awarded to a crew management company that demonstrated Initiative, Best Practices and Excellence and in any aspect of crew welfare

The shortlisted nominees are:

  • Columbia Group, for its efforts to enhance crew competence
  • Döhle Seafront Crewing Manila, for focusing on training and crew development
  • Magsaysay, for focusing on Filipino seafarers’ mental wellness
  • OSM Thome, for its ‘OSM Thome Cares Program’
  • V.Group, for its ‘Voyage Royalty’ program
  • Wallem Group, for its ‘Women of Wallem’ (WoW) initiative


Crew Welfare Service Provider Award
To be awarded to a Service provider that delivered service which contributes towards improving crew welfare

The shortlisted nominees are:

  • ATPI Marine Travel, for leveraging technology to enhance crew change travel wellbeing
  • IMEQ Center, for its IMEQ Seafarers App
  • Inmarsat Maritime, for its Inmarsat NexusWave
  • OCEANIC, for enhancing crew wellbeing through many initiatives
  • PHILCAMSAT, for its ‘BRIDGE’ Program
  • Port Medical Management, for its dedicated Mental Health Division and web-based app SeaCalm


Crew Welfare Non-Profit Organisation Award
To be awarded to a non-profit organization or association that planned, promoted and delivered any program fostering crew welfare with tangible results

The shortlisted nominees are:

  • ECSA European Shipowners and ETF, for launching the ‘European Maritime Skills Forum’
  • ISWAN (International Seafarers’ Welfare and Assistance Network), for its ‘Safe at Sea…It Takes All of Us!’ campaign
  • International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF), for its ‘ITF Wellbeing’ program
  • Maritime Professional Council of UK (MPC), for its work in promoting Kind Leadership in the maritime industry
  • Seafarers’ Hospital Society (SHS), for its support of the health and welfare needs of women seafarers


Crew Welfare Diversity & Inclusion Award
To be awarded to an organization that planned/delivered a program or promoted in any way the Diversity & Inclusion agenda

The shortlisted nominees are:

  • Magsaysay, for its support of female cadets through mentorship
  • Neurodivers At Sea, for the inclusion and support of neurodivergent individuals
  • OneCare Group, for its Maritime Diversity and Inclusion Course
  • Sailors’ Society, for the launch of a new helpline for female seafarers
  • Seaspan Corporation, for its diversity and inclusion initiatives
  • WISTA Norway, for its ’40 by 30 Pledge’


Crew Welfare Personality Award
To be awarded to a Personality that provided industry influence and contributed towards moving the crew welfare agenda forward with tangible results


Crew Welfare Leadership Award
To be awarded to an Industry Figure that has provided leadership by steering their organization and/or the industry towards crew welfare excellence

 


 

Awards are subject to the following procedure, terms and conditions.

Nomination and Voting Procedure:

  • Notification procedure is initiated few months ahead of the event with an open invitation to the industry stakeholders to propose nominations on the web. Nominations are valid only with an online submission completing the form below and can be made by any individual involved in shipping, limited to one nomination per category per person. All nominations MUST be in English language and provide a clear indication of the reasons behind the nomination (as appropriate).
  • SAFETY4SEA Editorial staff will review all nominations for validity in line with rules, terms and conditions announced and place all valid nominations to the website for the online Open Vote in line with the deadlines announced.
  • For each category winner will be the nominee that has attracted the most votes by the end of the voting period. Only one vote per person per category will be allowed.
  • Awards shall be presented to winners at a dedicated special event to be held on June the 24th, during the Crew Welfare Week.

 

Terms and Conditions:

  • Nominations: 4th Crew Welfare Virtual Awards are open for nominations till Wednesday, 9th of April 2025. Valid nominations will be reviewed by the editorial staff and put to online open vote on crewwelfareweek.com, supported by social media and e-mail campaigns.
  • Eligibility: Only work or achievements taking place within the last 18 months will be eligible. Each nomination to meet the award description and specified entry criteria.
  • Online Open Vote Procedure: Only one vote is accepted per award category. Vote will be open till 16th of May 2025.
  • Award Announcement: Awards shall be presented to winners at a dedicated special event to be held on June the 24th, during the Crew Welfare Week.
