Agwa

Agwa is transforming access to fresh nutrition at sea through autonomous onboard growing technology built for the realities of maritime operations. Fresh vegetables typically run out within the first 10 to 14 days at sea, leaving crews dependent on frozen, preserved or canned food for the rest of the voyage. Agwa’s mission is to close that gap, treating continuous access to fresh produce not as a luxury but as a structural requirement of life at sea.

The service uses AI-driven automation to manage the entire growing process onboard, adapting to crew consumption patterns and vessel conditions, with no farming experience required. Compact units fit existing galleys and grow around 40 varieties of greens, herbs and vegetables, with no soil or natural sunlight needed and full remote visibility from ship or shore.

For owners and managers, this supports a more proactive approach to crew welfare, nutrition and operational resilience. Beyond the food itself, Agwa reduces dependence on port resupply and imported produce, and minimises packaging waste, spoilage and transport emissions, while aligning with the latest Maritime Labour Convention amendments on fresh, nutritious and culturally appropriate meals.

Agwa works with maritime operators worldwide, including Eastern Pacific Shipping and Synergy Marine, and was named winner of the Health and Wellbeing at Sea Award at Seatrade Maritime Crew Connect Global 2025. The company positions fresh nutrition as a practical part of the wider human factors and operational performance conversation, not solely as a welfare benefit.

Health4Crew

Health4Crew is a trusted data-driven maritime telemedicine service mitigating operational crew risks through:

  • preventative 2nd opinions on all seafarer pre-employment medical examinations (PEMEs) and
  • 24/7 emergency response for illness and injury onboard

When health information is fragmented, risk becomes invisible. A single onboard medical case can disrupt operations, trigger avoidable escalation, create documentation gaps and leave the office without a clear view of what is happening.

At Health4Crew we integrate physical and mental health, drug and alcohol testing, medical chest and shoreside assistance into one concise view for the office, including dashboards & reporting, to keep the crew safe, prevent avoidable disruption and reduce costs.

Health4Crew helps shipping companies move from document collection to proactive medical risk visibility. Crew wellbeing is not a soft benefit. It is a safety, retention and operational continuity strategy.
